David and I were able to go to Lagoon on Thursday... for free! We went with his Jr. High. We had a great time. I forgot to buy sunblock. I decided it would be more fun just to buy aloe vera after :) yah I got a little burned. The picture above is of one of the surprisingly scariest rides for us- the ferris wheel! It just went up so high and so slow. We did go on it twice though to prove we can handle it.

One of our favorites- a "family ride." You could make the fish raise up or go down as we were rotated around on a big central octupus. The fun part was the water that squirted at us around the edges. The height of the water changed. David was way better at driving than me. He always had me in the perfect place to get wet when we got to the squirting dolphin.

By the afternoon, David had built himself up enough to brave the Colossus! It is the second scariest coaster, according to the students. It has two loops in a row! David was glad he went on it, but once was enough.

I know I don't look too excited, but this was my favorite ride- the Turn of the Century. It's those swings that get going fast and eventually you're swinging at a diagonal angle. I loved them. They just swing in a circle and go over a pond for half of the ride. I know they sound childish, but I love swings.

I got this awesome picture of David on the Mouse ride. Right when you think you're going off the edge, it makes really sharp turns and swings you around to a straightaway, just to await the next sharp turn. I hated it.

This is The Rocket. There was no way we would go on it. It goes slowly up to the top and then drops you straight down. It didn't look like any fun to us.
So Lagoon was so fun! I went 10 years or so ago and didn't really enjoy myself. This time, I was able to relax and keep my eyes open on the rides. We loved it. I think the best part was that we didn't feel obligated to ride everything since we didn't pay to get in.
Joe is trying to talk me into going to Lagoon I am to terrfied! We are going to be in SLC for a long time it feels like forever right now. But since Joe is playing football at the U we know we are here for 3 years for sure. But someday when were both finished with school I want to move to a nice small town. I really don't like this big city stuff! I bet you guys are so excited to go home.
ReplyDeleteWhat a so fun day at Lagoon!! Just so know how tough your mama is, I want you to know that I went on the rocket and it scared my socks off for sure! I don't remember you not enjoying Lagoon when we went - I remember it being such a fun day for all of us. The way scariest ride for me was the sky tram that we used to get to the other side of the park. I really hated that. Your dad thought it was very funny, but he was sweet enough to let me hang on him the whole time I was on it.
ReplyDeleteHow fun. I love Lagoon. I hate the rocket (good call on not going). Did you try the new roller coaster wicked? That one is scary!
ReplyDeleteMan it sounds like you two had a good time! Thats one thing I never did in Utah that I wish I would have!
ReplyDeleteWow! A free trip to Lagoon!? Sweet! I've been on all those scary rides a bunch of times...WAY fun! I even did the free fall bungee jump thing AND the human catapult thing! They were scary, but lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteSorry you got a sunburn...that is the worst! Don't you just wish you could turn back time and slather on sun screen?!
i rode the colossus when i was like 9 years old! such a fun roller coaster. glad you two had fun!
ReplyDeleteI don't like the rocket either! I also hate the ferris wheel. But one of my favorites was the cat and mouse. I miss you a ton! I can't wait to see you again hopefully before the runion but if not then I will wait.
ReplyDeleteIsn't there an age limit or some requirement that you need to have a child accompany you on the toy fish ride? I wouldn't brag about that one Dave. Thank goodness you redeemed yourself on the roller coaster! Also, you need to adjust the settings on your blog because it is to hard to comment. I'm jumping through hoops here, registering as a user, entering a password I always forget, and then typing some bogus word--HATE IT!!
