Annika baby was 5 months old on January 31st. She is loving baby food- applesauce, peaches, pears, apple/kiwi/mango, and sweet potatoes. The peas smell disgusting, so I don't blame her for gagging on those. I need to try more veggies with her. I haven't had her weighed at the Dr. recently, but according to a bathroom scale, she gained 1.5 pounds in 3 weeks! Just within the last week, she seems to be noticing when David and I are eating something. She follows the spoon from the plate to our mouths. The other day, I let her suck on my glass while I was holding it. She seemed to love the smooth texture.
She is pretty consistent with her naps. 1.5 hrs in the morning, 1.5 in the afternoon, 1 hr in the early evening, and 1 hr around 6:30. She goes to bed between 8:30 and 9. And then we move on to night time sleep, which she does not excel in. She has still been waking up once to eat, which isn't horrible. I was just hoping she would be sleeping through the night by now. But, she does sleep soundly from her feeding (usually around 2) until 7 or 7:30.
She is enjoying sucking on paper, shaking her rattle ball, looking at any kind of screen (computer, phone, tv), and scratching her head. I am constantly putting lotion on her head in hopes that if I keep her skin moist, she won't scratch it constantly! It is funny to watch her. She finds a dry spot and then works her fingers around very intently to relieve the itch. She sometimes gets frustrated when I pull her hand away from her head, but she loves it when I rub her head for her. funny girl.
No rolling over yet. But she is very close. David told me not to expect her to do anything early or even at an average time. I guess that's how Beus' roll :) But, I was sitting up at 4 months. So, I thought she had a chance. It's funny the thing that seems to motivate her the most to try to roll is food. I was eating a roll a few days ago and gave her a few little crumbs. She loved it and kept rolling onto her side to get as close to me as possible. Food is the great motivator in this house. :)
She still loves it when we sing to her. Her love for looking at herself in the mirror is also deepening. She thinks she's pretty cute. and we agree! She has also recently discovered her tongue.
Annika gets really excited when daddy comes home. Her face lights up and her smile spreads when she sees him come through the door. She knows her daddy.
We can't get enough of our sweet Annika girl!
Adorable. That's so funny how she finds dry spots and itches them!
