Macy Olive is ONE

Our sweet little Macy is one! She is such a delight. I love how she stops whatever she is doing when she sees David or me walk by and wants us to pick her up. This isn't always convenient, but we try to indulge her whenever possible. Her love is so constant and abundant. She is still pretty quiet. She smiles easily but doesn't laugh often. She makes this growl from her throat often to be silly. She says dada and calls me naw-naw. I adore everything about her. We are so blessed to have her in our family.

Macy's favorite activity is climbing the stairs. We now have a gate at the bottom of the stairs going up and keep the door closed for the set that goes into the basement. I was trying to get by without a gate going to the upstairs because we don't have one that fits perfectly. The outer railing starts on the second step up so it's kind of a tricky space to baby proof. But the other day we lost track of who was watching her and I heard her crying. I ran frantically upstairs and found her in the master bathroom. She had fallen off the step that goes up to the jacuzzi tub and landed on the tile floor. I felt so bad. She is fine and just sports a small goose egg and bruise on her forehead. So I worked hard to figure out a way to make a gate work that night and now the gate is up and she can only climb onto the first stair.

last day as a one year old!

tomorrow she'll be one!

My friend told me about this plastic strip I could buy to help make arches and garlands. It was just a few dollars and it's so fun!

waffles and blackberries for dinner!

Benson made wrote Macy's name with k'nex, blocks, and Blokus block pieces. He's such a thoughtful brother!

their uniforms for the tumbling program. :) They wrote a program and had Papi announce it.

Esther gave Macy one of her stuffies- a llama with sequins on it. And she made a purse for her to carry it in. So sweet!

Annika made Macy a go cart out of a box and goggles to wear while she drives! The swim goggles were broken, so she used a piece of string to make a new strap. She wrote a big M and 1 on the sides. I love her creativity and thoughtful gifts!

I've given all of the kids their first toothbrush on their first birthday. Tyson did her first tooth brushing for her two teeth. :)

Macy's birth moment! 6:54 pm

Annika wrote "Macy" with k'nex too :)

Tyson was so sad when he went to bed that he didn't give Macy a gift. So when he woke up the next morning, he wrapped up his "drill bit" (his drill). He only left it in her possession for about 30 seconds. But still. It was a gift from the heart. And to be honest, Macy was only interested in the wrapping paper.

Last week I put Macy down for a nap and heard unusual sounds a few minutes later. I realized it was the sound of binkies hitting the door. And then I heard clapping. And then 30 seconds later another binky hitting the door. She must have been standing up and throwing out a binky, then sitting down to pick up another one to throw out. Funny little girl. She still sleeps in a pack n play in our bedroom closet. I hope Tyson will be ready to move in with Benson this fall so Macy can have a real bedroom and we can have our closet back. haha

We had such a fun day celebrating Macy on her birthday. She had been pretty sick the days leading up to her big day (a fever for three days and then congestion and coughing). She was still coughing and congested but acting a lot more herself by the day before her birthday. We went swimming at the Wagner's in the morning, she climbed the stairs many times (with me right behind her :), Papi came for the afternoon and evening, we had waffles and blackberries for dinner. The kids planned and practiced a tumbling gymnastics program for her. I was so touched by their intense desire to celebrate Macy. They all adore her.
