You can't tell from his pictures, but this little guy had Roseola this week. He had a decent grade fever for 48 hours in the middle of the week. Then, on Saturday, he woke up with a rash. I was silly and jumped to the conclusion that it was chickenpox, which is pretty uncommon these days. I went right to walmart and bought calamine lotion and started informing people we had weekend plans with that our boy had chickenpox. I got a sub for nursery and told Kathy and Heather why we weren't going to make it for the family dinner. I called my vt partner and told her she should probably keep her baby home from church since we had been together just hours before he came down with the fever. I felt so silly and humbled that afternoon when I checked out his body and realized it didn't really resemble chickenpox anymore, and maybe never did. whoops. We weren't sure what it was, but we ruled out chickenpox. Heather was actually the one that suggested Roseola. Funny thing is that Annika had Roseola at the exact same age, 10.5 months. So, we all went to Sacrament mtg. I brought the kids home after and David stayed to teach his YM lesson. Benson took a great nap almost until David got home. Annika and I took pictures of her in her pretty dress, made green play dough and had PB and banana sandwiches outside. It was a lovely morning. We were able to go to the family dinner too. With Roseola, they are most contagious while they have the fever, and Brynlee already contracted Roseola a few months ago. Moral of the story: don't assume you know what a rash is and even if you are pretty sure, don't tell a bunch of people until you are absolutely positive. (: |
