A Familial Visit to Spanish Fork!

My family came to visit us last weekend. They got here on Thursday night and stayed until Tuesday Morning. It was so fun to see them. David and I have never played hosts before. Keenan and Abby stayed with us. The rest of them were in a hotel. I don't have many pictures yet. I'll try to get some from Abby and Dad to post up here.

This picture is from our visit to Temple Square. We went up to the 26th floor of the Church Office building. It was awesome to overlook Temple Square and SLC on the opposite balcony. We also watched the Joseph Smith movie in the visitors center. That movie is incredible. It's more touching to me each time I watch it.

Along with Temple Square, this weekend we did a lot of shopping and visiting with family. We had some sweet finds at DI and tried a new store called Rod Works (home decorating). The boys went skiing while we were shopping and David was at school. We had dinner at the Newsome's on Friday night. Linda had to order pizza twice because she underestimated our hunger:) On Saturday we went to Golden Corral for lunch, a buffet place, with a bunch of my mom's side of the family.

I would have to say the highlight of the weekend was our attempt to eat at Sonic (a burger place). Dad tried to order- got frustrated. Mom tried- eventually couldn't talk b/c she was laughing so hard at the incompetence of the intercom and/or employee (also, to place the order, mom was leaning over dad in the driver's seat, with her head and shoulders hanging out the driver's window). As we could see my mom's laughter was disabling her to order, I moved up to the front of the van for one last attempt at placing our order- the intercom system really wasn't working, Dad drove off w/out finishing our order. We had some good laughs. But, it really is one of those "you had to be there"s. I wish we had it on video. We thought we were on candid camera because the lack of communication and the plethora of frustration on our part.

Overall, it was a great weekend. David and I have never experienced having a bunch of people over and then the quiet that remains when they depart. It is nice to be back to just us again. But, we are so glad they came to visit! Our hearts are full of love and our fridge is full of food (thanks mom:)!

Also, David is currently without a voice. I try not to laugh at his loss too much:) jk I take really good care of him, whether he is sick or well. I promise.

  2. It was so fun to be with you and David. You have a warm and welcoming home. I am so happy that you and David are taking such good care of each other. It sounds like David is working on that deep, seductive voice again - lucky you!
