Six Months

Our Macy Olive is 6 months old! She's about the cutest thing in the world. I would still describe her using the same words I did when she was a few weeks old- patient and content. I love watching her watch her siblings play. She is enthralled by them. She has rolled from tummy to back a few times and once from back to tummy. She definitely has designs to get objects. But she isn't very efficient yet. She loves to suck on books (the Indestructibles are perfect for her), toys, and cloth. She hasn't been as slobbery lately. She was going through three or four bandana bibs a day for a few weeks. No sign of teeth yet. She finally likes baby food purees. I started offering them to her around 5 months. She gagged and spit out everything for the first probably ten tries. About a week before she turned six months, and five days straight of trying a little applesauce every night, she finally swallowed the food instead of gagging. :) I still only give her baby food once a day, usually after we eat dinner. She definitely prefers fruits so far. I need to try sweet potatoes again. I gave her a few tiny pieces of pita bread on Sunday and she actually did really well with it. Macy isn't a great sleeper any more. Around four months, her sleep regressed and she hasn't improved. She usually eats once/night. But a few nights a week, she eats twice. She was our best sleeper until four months. And now she's similar to the all our other babies. Oh well. :) She goes to bed between 7:30 and 8 most nights. We get her up and feed her before we go to bed around 9:45. On a good night she eats around 4 and then sleeps until 7:15. But sometimes she wakes at 1:30 and won't go back to sleep with her binky. So that's a double feeding night.

We went to her 6 month well child visit yesterday. I'll post her stats from birth to now (with growth percentiles in parentheses):

birth: 9 lbs 12 ounces

17 days: 9 lbs 13 ounces (90), 22 inches long (99), 15 inch head circ. (99)

8 weeks: 11 lbs 4 ounces (49), 24 inches long (97), 15.5 inches (81)

4 months: 14 lbs 8 ounces (54), 25.8 inches (93), 16.8 inches (93)

6 months: 17 lbs 1 ounce (67), 27.3 inches (95), 17.5 inches (95)

We love having a chunky baby. I didn't think I'd ever have one. Her squishy arms, thighs, and cheeks are so fun. She is perfect, just like all our other babies. :) So grateful to have a thriving and joyful baby girl!

I thought I would be more sad thinking about Macy being our last baby. But my overall emotion is gratitude. I'm so grateful we get to have another sweet baby. I love watching her go through the milestones. I love watching her siblings interact with her. Today, I smiled as Esther lay on the floor next to Macy and let her grab her face. They were both laughing. It was so pure. A few weeks ago, Tyson asked to hold her. While she sat with him he said "my best baby in the world." He is doing sooo much better with being kind and gentle with her. We are blessed to have you, Macy babe! (Mace, May Mays, Macy May, Mace of Base, Mamers)
