Benson announced to Annika on Sunday, "when I grow up, I'm not going to church every Sunday. And I'm going to climb trees for my job." (I can't remember if those were in the same conversation). Annika was appalled at his first statement. She told Benson that she will be going to church every Sunday and then asked me if I heard what he said. I was just going to ignore his statement. But I decided it would be best to take the opportunity to bear my testimony about going to church. I don't know how much sinks in, but it's my job to do my best.
When Tyson is frustrated, he crawls across the room with his forehead pressed to the floor. I've been trying to catch it on video. Sometimes he crawls all the way across the room until his head hits the wall. It's hilarious.
Yesterday, Benson was shooting things with his hands as finger pistols, sound effects and all. He did it for several minutes. After he left the room, probably to get a bad guy, I saw Tyson pointing his finger and saying "bah, bah." He was totally making finger pistols and sounds! Smart baby!
Tyson has mastered descending the stairs in a safe way. So now he tries to go down everything- the step into the garage when we leave the door open to grab something from the fridge, the bathtub (he climbed up to top while I was filling the water for Esther in our master bath and then he turned around and I caught him right before he was dropped into the water fully clothed).
Tonight Esther asked Annika "do you want to play library and I can be the library one (librarian) first?" :)
Yesterday, Esther saw my recipe books and asked to look through them. She came to me and wanted me to write down all the recipes she wanted me to make. I gave her sticky notes instead to mark the pages. She chose a lot and it was so cute to watch her. She loves to help me cook and bake.
A few nights ago, I was getting the girls to bed and Keenan needed to talk. After several frustrating minutes of Esther getting in and out of bed and talking, I told them that Keenan was really sad and I needed to call him to find out why. It didn't seem to help Esther fall asleep any faster. But the next morning I told the kids that Keenan broke up with his girlfriend Hailey. Annika said "that's what I thought." I was impressed that she had thought about what he might be sad about. She is a thoughtful girl. On the way to school that morning, she asked "so will they still be friends?" I thought it was cute that she was still thinking about it and trying to figure out the basics of relationships.
