One!

Tyson is one! I know its cliche to say, but I can't imagine our lives without him. I just love having him in our family. We are so blessed to have each of our kids.
Tyson is very attached to me. He cries when I leave the room or when he hears me talking in another room. I love coming home and hearing him crawl toward the garage door as he hears my voice reentering the house. It's flattering to be loved so intensely. :) He says mama and dada and bye bye. He loves to wave when people are leaving. He often starts waving when David is standing by the door, waiting for the kids to get their shoes on. And he keeps waving for 10 seconds after they leave. I just love listening to his little voice say "bye bye." He's such a doll! He loves a good variety of foods- top three favorites are toast, oranges, and blueberries, cheese, pasta, black beans (much prefers when they're flavored with tomato sauce, chili, and cumin), quesadillas, kiwi, grapefruit, sweet potatoes, yogurt, anything someone else is eating, anything he finds on the floor. It's so fun to watch him explore and expand his world. He is a fast little crawler and excellent stair climber. He loves to push chairs and stools around the floor. He has three teeth (I'm a little concerned about the status of his upper teeth after the fall he had at Dena's house when we were moving. We have another dental appt for him in a few weeks). He weighed 18 pounds 10 oz at his appt this week and was 29 inches long. That puts him in the 11th percentile for weight, 17th for height, and 88th for head circumference. He's growing steadily! (for comparison: Annika was 17 pounds at age 1, Benson was 20 4, and Esther was 19 4)
Tyson is our most aggressive baby with mobility. He didn't crawl until just before 10 months, which is the same timeline as the other three. But, he pushes the limits with crawling and climbing every day. He can't climb up onto chairs yet. But he climbs the stairs and pulls himself to standing next to everything possible. He's recently started standing up on the stairs, holding onto the railing and looking through the slats while he yells at us to make sure we see him. :) When he sees a closed door, he usually crawls over to it and gives it a push to see if we may not have closed it tightly. He loves to go in the bathroom and pull up to standing on the toilet and next to the tub. He gets really excited when we are on the main level of the house and ask him if he wants to take a bath. He can hardly hold still long enough for me to take his clothes off once we get up to the bath. He loves to splash and pull Esther's hair while I'm washing it. Thankfully, she is quite tolerant of his antics.
Last week, we dropped his naps to two a day. He has been sleeping so much better at night since we did that! And he usually makes one of those naps a 1.5-2 hour one. He was taking three 45 minute naps, going to bed at 7, waking to eat between 5 and 6 and often up for the day by 6:30. When he wakes up around 6, David takes him downstairs and lays on the couch with him. He usually goes back to sleep. But it's not very comfortable for David. However, since we dropped his third nap, he's been going to bed at 6:30 and sleeping straight through the night until around 7 am!
Tyson loves to sit next to the bookshelf and look through board books. He also loves to stand next to the shelf and pull down books! The three older kids are super into card games right now (Cover your Assets and Sleeping Queens). And Tyson has actually started to leave them alone for the most part while they're playing.
Tyson loves to go for walks and be outside. I'm looking forward to watching him explore (and hopefully not eat too much dirt) this spring!
He doesn't generally enjoy having visitors in our home. I wouldn't say he's a homebody. But he definitely is most content when it's just our family at home.
We just adore our little scoop of love!

This was the highlight of the night! The cake was solid enough that it held together while he picked it up like this for a good 30 seconds. What a cutie pie. He was pretty fussy during the day (teething?) and he definitely didn't like having visitors over for dinner (Dena, Todd and Ellie and Abby and Shaun). We got him a 3 foot trampoline and some sippy cups for his bday. Abby and Papi got him applesauce pouches. It was a fun day and I was happy that he enjoyed his cake. :)

we took him to Lowe's for our "date night." He's just the most darling little boy!
