Bathroom Remodel

Our shower lining has been warped and mold has been settling around the bottom edges for over a year. We finally got to work the last weekend of June. David Haworth was in town and his dad offered his services. We jumped on that and decided to get it done that week. David tore out the old liner Thursday evening. David H. came over the next morning and assessed the water damage, which wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. He replaced some insulation. But, it looked all right after having the fan on it for 24 hours. David H. installed the hardibacker and sealed the seams. My dad came over that night and we laid the first row of tile. We did most of the tiling on Saturday. Since we only have one bathroom, we were anxious to have a working shower again. It took a week to get to that point. David showered at his parents most nights and I showered at Chandra Raab's. It wasn't fun, but it worked.  I think the kids only got one bath that week.

some paint samples. I chose light silver sage, the one on the far right. I love it!

I took the kids to Papi's house on Thursday night while David was demo-ing. Annika applied a liberal layer of Gram Pam's lipstick around her lips; one of her favorite pass times.

We found this swing at our local Goodwill. I talked the owner down a dollar on it and brought it home for Papi's house for $3.50. :)

we've been working on using the potty. She's still used it a few times every day, even with all of the mess in the bathroom. She is still in diapers. We're just getting her used to the toilet.

I forgot to get a picture after David had demo-ed it out. But this is a picture of all of the sheet rock and mess that David H. pulled out before installing the hardibacker. It looked so much nicer to have that clean hardibacker up!

Annika arranged her pita bread from smallest to biggest for lunch on one of our bathroom remodel days.

potty pop after church! She stayed dry all 3 hours one Sunday! She went poop and pee at the church for her first time that same day.

Saturday work

laying the last tile! I think that was on Monday. I hated how messy our sink, floors, and toilet got each day.

ahhh. So nice to have a shower again! It was a lot of work. But, we are so glad we did it!

June

playing in the sandbox. Annika is great at multitasking (holding her doll while she plays). Benson looks so big playing right along side Annika. I love watching them play together.
my darling babies after church

Benson's first time eating dirt. A right of passage for every boy. And he was pretty proud of himself.

Our big trip for June was to Seattle with Papi. Stopping at the Cle Elum Bakery is a must if we're driving with Papi. We didn't complain though. :)

Papi took us to Seattle the day after school was out. It was a really fun Saturday for us! This picture was taken right before we boarded a boat for a tour of the Puget Sound. We carried Benson in the car seat so he could stay asleep longer.

This was my favorite part of the tour. We learned about the loading docks and were able to see some people at work. The weight capacity of these barges amazes me. (not that I remember the number) I also learned that the freight boxes are a standardized size internationally to maximize the number each barge can fit.

US Coast Guard ship. We learned that portions of these ships are often occupied and rented by scientists doing work across the seas.

Annika was very tired by this point on the ship so a lot of her pictures show her grumpy face. Not sure how I got this cute one.

Benson melted into Papi. Papi is one his favorite people.

this was after we left the aquarium. We ate lunch at Pike Street, went to the aquarium, drove around for 10 minutes so Benson could fall asleep, then went on the boat tour.

this was after the boat tour, on our way to dinner.

she stayed asleep when David carried her into the restaurant. It was so hot in there that neither one of us wanted to hold her while she slept. And she also needed to eat. So, we woke her up. I think she was glad:)

Mosquito Patrolman. David loves his summer job. I love it too. It's low stress for him, he gets to come home for lunch, and he is home at 4 every day.

Benson playing outside on our beautiful lawn, compliments to daddy.

He figured out home to climb in and out of this car and he is very pleased with his accomplishment!

I made two of these for some friends that were moving away. I have one, different colors, in our bathroom too.

Benson was overdue for his first haircut. I asked Dena to come over and help me. She is such a good friend!

one of my favorites is to peek in on the kids after they fall asleep :)

Annika's first braid!

We were at our local thrift shop looking for some trek clothes for me. Annika decided she needed to find a shirt for Zack. Pretty sweet find! It said I (heart) DC on the front.

All of the grandkids love going to feed the horses. Glenn and Kathy are so kind to indulge the grandkids.

Annika, Brynlee, and Brooklyn! We will have to recreate this picture every year.
