December

Email excerpts:
12/8: We had a pretty regular week. Benson has been pretty fussy. Must be teething. Annika has been loving all the Christmas lights. When we drive past them at night she says "mo yights!" (more lights). She says such cute things. Today I was changing Benson's poopy diaper. As I was wiping him, he started pushing out another batch of poop. Luckily, I had a wipe in my hand and I caught most of it. David was in Annika's room so I yelled for him to come right away and assist me. We got it all cleaned up without spreading poop to his clothes or the changing pad. Pretty skilled. And pretty gross. I am really looking forward to January (and Christmas of course because I get to talk to you two cool cats!) In January, our meeting time will change to 9 (instead of 11). It will be so nice to get home earlier and the kids will be able to go down for naps at a regular time. I hope Annika is still napping by then. She still takes long naps. But, she fights them every time now. Also, in January, 8 of my 14 nursery kids will be moving up to Sunbeams! Hallelujah! 14 kids from 18 months to 3 years is too many. Benson will officially be in nursery on November 30. That means Annika and Bens will be in nursery for one month together before A becomes a sunbeam.

12/16: We exchanged gifts with dad last night since he is going to be gone for Christmas and there will be all the wedding stuff this coming weekend. He SPOILED Annika. A little excessive, but don't tell him I said that. He got her a train table, which he is going to return because its way too big for our little house and doesn't work as well as we think it should. He also got her a leapfrog laptop that is very basic, but she thinks it's awesome. And he got her a bunch of play food, a little dress, and a shape sorter. The food is her favorite. He got Benson some bath toys. He got David some tools and a hat and cute down jacket for me. We got him a calendar and new metal calendar holder. Now we need to go through Annika's toys and get rid of stuff to make room for the new additions. yikes.
Benson is so cute, as you can see in pictures. We just love la cookie boy. He really likes to yell. He still hasn't rolled over. Most babies do that by 4 months I think. But, I don't mind because I don't have to worry about him moving around. And his Dr. isn't worried about it at all. He moves his limbs and head a lot. He is strong. He just hasn't put it all together yet.
Annika thinks all of the wrapped gifts are either books or a ball. She loves opening presents. She has recently discovered butter. Whenever we have it out for dinner, that's all she wants to eat. yuck. One of her favorite things is to sit in her crib with a stack of books and read to herself. THe other day, I put both kids in her crib while I made myself breakfast. It's so nice that Annika is careful and kind enough to him that I can leave them alone. And she is the best at entertaining Benson. He will laugh at anything she says to him. She has been holding his hand a lot when he is next to her. So sweet. (and so true)
We are going to have a busy week this week. Scout pack mtg tomorrow (yes!!!). Scouts on Wednesday. Temple on Thursday night with the family. And setting up for the wedding reception on Friday. And then the big day on Saturday. It will be busy and fun. I don't think I will get a chance for many naps this week. So, I hope the kids sleep well.

Dustin and Cassidy got married. It was a beautiful wedding. But I was grateful it was over too. I planned a lot of it, with lots of help from Dena and Maureen Roylance!

Benson's first time riding like a big boy in a cart! (at Costco of course)

ward Christmas party

We went to Heather and Nathan's for Christmas Eve and Christmas

poor daddy felt so sick. We found out the next day he had Strep throat. He thought he was going to die. Thank goodness for antibiotics and hydrocodone (and Dr. Bunch who will prescribe hydro freely:).

sweet cousins

hair-do after taking the pony tail holders out. Love it!

tough Uncle Matt loves Benson :) We're sad that we won't see him again for awhile
Janelle and Brandon and their sweet baby, Michelle, came to visit! Annika calls the baby "baby chelle." It was so wonderful to see my friend and meet her little girl.

our happy boy is 7 months old!

on 12/31 we took the kids to tri cities to run some errands. We stopped at Columbia Trail park and fed the ducks on the way home. The kids loved it. Those big birds scare me though!

this sweet girl trying to smile with her teeth together makes me smile too :)
