game night

We invited my roommates and David's over for a game/dessert night. It was so fun! We loved seeing everybody and playing games.

Silent Football

Mr. Beus

David is teaching his first lesson today. He is team teaching with another student teacher named Laura. So, he's not completely on his own. But, planned out lessons for the rest of the school year. From now on, Mr. Christmas will be observing them.
So, for part of the lesson, they are splitting the students up into 5 groups.  David wanted to make it more exciting for the kids. So, he bought dum-dums and separated the flavors out so he could customize the groups for each class size.  I was happy there were extra dum-dums:) I didn't know they had so many flavors! Mango is my favorite. Probably tangerine for David.
I guess they smell good

Scavenger Hunt!

It was a pretty tough hunt.

David marching down the road, totally uninhibited.

"your next clue, under the table,
will make your journey more stable."

On Friday, I was running out of things to do. Then, I got the genius idea of making a scavenger hunt for David. :) The clues were written in rhyme.  It was fun to make and fun to see David get excited like a little kid.  I felt kind of bad at the end because the treasure was ME. Of course he was happy. But, during the hunt, he was thinking the prize might be the Dark Knight or tickets to a BYU basketball game.  Sorry, David- not that extravagant. :) He said his hopes were met though. It was pretty cheesy. But, I got a walk with David out of it and we both got some good laughs.

Good News!

Yesterday I had an interview at Big 5 and he offered me the job on the spot! David and I are so happy that I found a job. The pay isn't great and it's part time, but I'm happy to have any work at this point.  I get a pretty sweet discount. David is excited about that:) I will start next Monday or Tuesday. So, that's my good news for the week.  I'm still looking for more part time work. But, it's such a relief to have a job!
Another piece of good news- Elizabeth, our land lady, told us we could move the fridge inside from the garage! She wanted it to stay out there b/c it's old, and she didn't want it to have leaking issues on the wood floor. But, the freezer hasn't been working super well. She had a Sears man come look at it and he said it would work a lot better inside. So, my handyman David:) took the fridge doors off and we moved it inside. We have a big rug right inside from the garage entrance. David had the genius idea to pull the rug into the kitchen with the fridge on it. It worked great! I've never been happier to see a fridge in a kitchen before!

Taco Night!

Last Tuesday, we had a few of David's roommates and their girlfriends over for dinner. There were 8 of us all together. The tacos were delicious. Matt brought Henry Weinhard's root beer and cream soda- David's favorite. It was fun to have to put all three leaves in the table to fit everyone. David and I love being together all the time, but it's fun to have other people over too. Ben and Kimmy made an amazing pumpkin cheesecake.  After dinner, we ended up downstairs, in the room that is coldest, only has a couch to sit on, and didn't have a working light at the time.  funny. Here are some pictures so you can feel like you were there with us:)

Wedding Pictures

We have been married for almost 3 weeks now. It seems like we've been married for a lot longer than that (in a good way). We are so happy together! These are some pictures from our wedding (taken by Chelsea Davis- she was awesome!).

Student Teaching & Job Hunting

To start things off- here is one of the many attractive pictures that I have of David.  He LOVES taking pictures of himself. Kind of weird... but in a cute way:)
David has been student teaching for a week and a half now.  He is teaching in a 7th grade Utah History class.  The teacher he is working with is Mr. Christmas (great name!).  Right now, he isn't doing a lot of whole class teaching. But, as the semester goes on, his responsibilities will increase. By the end, Mr. Christmas will only be observing while David teaches.  He enjoys working with the kids one on one.  But, he's excited to progress to being the main teacher.
I am currently looking for work.  I have had 3 interviews. I should hear back from one today and one tomorrow.  I have applied at several places.  The one thing I have to justify my lack of success is that we're only going to be here for 5 months.  I'm assuming this doesn't help my appeal as an employee.  It's hard remain hopeful.  I'm really glad I have David to keep my spirits up:) I applied to Big 5 yesterday, and I just got done applying to Fedex Kinkos.  I would love working at either one of these, or both since they're part time.
The RS presidency came over yesterday and had some great work leads.  There is a great need for Census workers in UT for Census 2010.  I called and set up a time to take an employment test and fill out paperwork.  This one sounds hopeful. We'll see!
